David
enjoys people and has a heart for the person in pain. He is convinced
that understanding God's ways is pivotal for the healthy, emotional
life of the Christian. David has spent over 20 years in Biblical
research; he teaches classes in spiritual life formation, and
he has spent countless hours counseling and discipling people.
The result is a uniquely gifted individual who effectively communicates
God's truths to a hurting world.
David received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Houghton
College, a Master of Divinity degree from San Francisco Conservative
Baptist Seminary and a Master of Theology degree from Golden Gate
Seminary. After completing six years of graduate research at Oxford
University in England, he received the Doctor of Philosophy degree
from Golden Gate Seminary in San Francisco, California. He has
authored a commentary, Discovering Micah through Malachi and has written a book on spiritual life development entitled: Living in the Presence of the Trinity. His biblical
scholarship is combined with 23 years of experience as pastor,
counselor, teacher and conference speaker in a distinctly biblical
and practical approach to everyday life. He has also held
a number of leadership positions at Western Seminary, such as
Executive Vice-President and Executive Dean.
Currently, David is an associate professor of Hebrew and Spiritual
Formation at Western Seminary. He is in much demand as a speaker
on the spiritual life, the dysfunctional family and communication
styles. He is the founder of Kesed Seminars and
a senior lecturer for the organization. Dr. Eckman and his
wife, Carol, have been married for 27 years and have two children.
They live in Pleasanton, California.
