Requirements:
Student must reister as a counselor with the state of Washington prior to seeing clients. The site values interns who portray a sense of confidence, who will not become flustered easily when working with client issues. Having some prior experience is helpful in being able to trust the basic counseling skills enought to get through sessions and the seek supervision. Interns must have a good understanding of bounderis and their own limitations.
Specific Schedule Requirements?
Yes. Staff meetings are mandatory 7:30-9:00am Wednesday mornings. A minimum of ten hours per week is required on-site (5-7 clients per week). Primary hours will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
Stressors at this Site:
Much like a private practice, the counselor is responsible for collecting fees, correspondence, ect... Builiding a caseload will be slow. Learning paperwork requirements may be an inital challenge.
Summary Comments:
The benefits include working with a staff of committed and supportive Christians, experience in a private practice setting, and autonomy in managing your clients. The setting, however, requires individuals to be highly responsible.
