Description of Agency:
A non-profit residential treatment center for emotionaly-disturbed youth. Approximately 90-95% of referrals come from Services to Children and Families (SCF). Most children/adolescents have extensive histories of abuse, neglect, fragmented families, and/or failed adoptions.

- Clients range in age from 7-18 years with an average age of 12-13. Approximately 90-95% of referrals come from Services to Children and Families (SCF). Most children and adolescents have extensive histories of abuse, neglect, fragmented families, and/or failed adoptions. Treatment focuses on a wide range of issues and may include work with with families.

Requirements:
No special requirements other than an ability to tolerate adolescents with a history of severe abuse and behavioral acting out.

Specific Schedule Requirements?
Negotiable, but Wednesdays from 10:30-12:00 is group supervision and from 1:00-2:30 is a staff meeting.

Stressors at this Site:
Clients have extensive abusive histories, much activity may be occurring simultaneously, and staff tend to be dynamic and opinionated.

Summary Comments:
The site has 3 residential cottages and 1 assessment program. Two of the units are locked units. The ingern would receive experience working with troubled youth who have extensive histories of abuse. Interns would not be free to share thier religious convictions. The Christie School offers a good opportunity to learn work with very difficult cases.
