Columbia River Mental Health Services for Children

Description of Agency:
County mental health agency, in business for over 50 years, providing a full range of sevices to Medicaid clients. No other form of insurance or payment is accepted. Primary diagnoses include: schozophrenia, bipolar, and major depression, (dysthymia, PTSD, anxiety, and agoraphobia are sometimes also treated). Clients are offered 6-8 sessions, which may sometimes be extended

Clients Served:
  Children
Adolescents
Young Adults (up to 21)
- A full range of child and family issues with the following exceptions: no occupational therapy, no physical therapy, no sexual offender treatment, and no court mandated clients.

Willingness to learn, nonjudgemental, accepting of diversity, maturity.

Specific Schedule Requirements?
Negotiable scheduling, 16 hours on site.

Stressors at this Site:
Adjustment to paperwork, which will be primarily entered on computer. Interns will work with a large team of providers.

Summary Comments:
The site is exellent for training in that staff are readily available for consultation and the work is often supported by a team approach. The orientation oand interventions are family centered. Interns will not be permitted to bring spirituality into thier work at this site.
