Description of Agency:
Corban is a small Christian liberal arts college located at the south end of Salem

Clients Served:

-The college is predominantly comprised of young adults 16 years and older. Common issues involving students living in residence on campus, include depression and anxiety (about 85% of presenting clients). The following issues are generally referred out for treatment: drug and alcohol dependence, intensive eating disorders and Axis II personality disorders.

Requirements:
Preference is given to SECOND YEAR applicants who demonstrate an ability to connect well with young adult college student population. The intern must be able to work autonomously and to "hit the ground running." In addition to previous internship experience, maturity and life experience are also highly valued.

Specific Schdule Requirements?
Scheduling is flexible Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. The intern will be expected to work two days, 10-15 hours per week. The intern will also be expected to attend the student life meetings scheduled on Thursdays 9-10:30am.

Stressors at this Site:
Maintaining confidentiality on a college campus, issues associated with students living in residence on campus, drop-ins and crisis work are common as well as unscheduled consultations

Summary Comments:
Corban offers a great opportunity for a mature intern to experience counseling in a Christian college setting. The model is brief therapy with a 6-8 session limit. Counseling internship does not take place during school break times.
