Internship Sites

Description of Agency:
Clients are three years old through thirty years who have, within the past three years, experienced the death of a parent, sibling, primary caretaker, or best friend. Concurrent services are offered to family members of children in the program. Services are funded by donations.

Requirements:
Students must complete a training which is taught over three weekend days plus one evening. The trainings are offered in January, May, and October.

Specific Schedule Requirements?
There are various group times Monday through Thursday. Each group will require the intern to participate for 3 1/2 hours, every other week. If the intern is assigned to two groups, then the commitment will be 3 1/2 hours every week.

Stressors at this Site:
The immersion in grief and loss issues, both intern's personal loss and clients' loss. Interns are required to explore their own grief issues during group supervision.

Summary Comments:
This would be an excellent supplemental site (not enough client contact hours to be a primary site) for learning about grief and loss issues. The work is facilitating support groups---NO individual counseling.

Directions:
Go to Powell Blvd. and go west to 52nd and Powell. Turn left at 52nd heading south and go 3 blocks. It will be on the right hand side, in a white building. Parking is on the street or on the driveway in the back.
