Middle school grades 6 through 8

Requirements:
Second year of internship only! Background check may be required. School counseling is very different from a clinical setting. Interns should apply only if they are considering a possible career in school counseling.

Negotiable, 2 eight hour days 7:30 - 3:30

Stressors at this Site:
Balancing all of the responsibility and prioritizing time. There is a wide variety of demand beyond counseling obligations, including serving on committees, providing prevention education, peer mediation, and returning many phone calls. Counseling hours tend to build slowly in the fall. Counseling is generally conducted in 20-minute segments.

Summary Comments:
Contact hours may be slow the first semester during training period. If one is desiring to become a Child Education Specialist, this would be excellent training--but it will be as a school counselor with 20 minute sessions. Students will be encouraged to join the Oregon School Counselor Association as student members. School counseling is very different from a clinical setting. From Western turn left onto 60th and follow it until NE Willow St. Turn slight left and merge onto the I-84 East/US 30 East ramp. Take the Wood Village/Gresham exit. Turn right onto NE 238th Dr which becomes 242nd Dr. Continue on NE 242nd Ave. and turn left onto Burnside St. Turn left onto E Powell Blvd/SE Powell Valley Rd.
