Description of Agency:
Open House is a non-profit Christian homeless shelter for families. Homeless parents and thier children reside at the shelter (single men are not permitted to stay). They provide many supports to the family including mandated counseling (at least one session is required).

- Homeless families, no single men are permitted to stay unless they have children. The average stay is over 100 days.

Negotiable except that supervision, case management, and site meetings are on Thursdays..

Some clients display resistance to the mandated counseling requirement.

Summary Comments:
Open House has an excellent residental facility and appears to be committed to high quality training. They have even installed a one-way observation window in one of the counseling rooms to facilitate training. Thier facility is clean and well-maintained. There is no limit on the number of sessions offered to clients which can permit some longer term counseling. Benefits include minimal paperwork requirements and flexible hours. Treatment is based on a systemic orientation.
