Description of Agency:
This non-profit agency provides rehabilitation services to men ages 18 and up to 60, who struggle with substance abuse issues. Some clients are also dual diagnosis

Requirements:
Site prefers interns who have a desire to learn about chemical dependency. Students should not apply who have personal issues with alcohol that have not yet been worked through and dealt with.

Specific Schedule Requirements?
Flexible hours, generally two 4-hour shifts, during the daytime Monday through Friday 8-4. Facilitating at least one group is required. Groups are held during the evenings or on Saturdays.

Stressors at this Site:
Population are men in early chemical dependency recovery with minimal coping skills

Summary Comments:
Interns would have experience in running groups as well as individual counseling sessions. This is an excellent site for an intern to develop confidence in their role as a counselor and to develop some specialized knowledge about substance abuse issues.

Directions:
From Western: Take Hawthorne to 20th Ave. Turn right on 20th and then a left on Burnside. Continue on East Burnside, bearning left on Sandy, then bearing right on Ankeny. Turn left on MLK Blvd.
