Procedure for applying:
Call Bonny Bissell, M.A.P.S., N.C.C., L.P.C., at (503) 517-1119 for an application to be submitted along with a resume and letter of interest. A group interview will be conducted followed by an individual interview. A background check will also be required.

Contact Person for Site:
Bonny Bissell, M.A.P.S., N.C.C., L.P.C.

Requirements:
Interns must be self-starters, take initiative, and be willing to promote themselves. Interns must be comfortable around people, but no prior experience is necessary. The campus is challenging for physically handicapped individuals. Both male and female interns are welcome to apply.

Specific Schedule Requirements?
about 14 hours per week, flexible scheduling on weekdays. Extra time may be required during Fall orientation. Interns must attend a staff meeting every week.

Stressors at this Site:
It is somewhat difficult getting initial client load established. Counseling loads tend rise and fall concurrent with on-campus academic demands. The intern's role is expanded beyond normal counseling duties to include some on-campus interaction with students.

Summary Comments:
Interns will receive good training in counseling, but will also need to learn the skills of marketing and building a caseload. There is an emphasis on boundaries and self-care, but lacks focus on diagnosis. The counseling center operates in a house on-campus that is warm and inviting. The supervisor seeks to utilize creative methods in counseling and supervision.

Directions:
(From Western) Take Hawthorne Blvd. to 60th. Turn right at 60th and travel to Division. Turn left onto Division, and go a couple of blocks. Turn left onto 66th. Caldwell Counseling Center will be a house on the left side at the end of 66th.
