Back to D.Min. Intro

Because much of the learning comes from student interaction, our aim is to keep class size small -- usually with no more than fifteen students in a class. Such an environment maximizes the opportunity for case studies, peer and professional discussion, and a personal relationship with the instructor.

Our Northwest location is great setting to observe emerging churches in action.

Western's Portland campus is located in the historic, residential Mount Tabor neighborhood. Many unique churches and ministries operate within a short driving distance of our central location. And, the Pacific Ocean, Mount Hood, and the Columbia River Gorge are all easy day drives from the city.

Expand your understanding of other cultures
you may touch through your ministry.

Part of Western's uniqueness is a partnership with the Doctor of Missiology (D.Miss.) program, one of the most outstanding programs in the country. Because pastors are increasingly involved in both local intercultural ministry and the worldwide mission effort, students are encouraged to take advantage of D.Miss. courses that will sharpen their cross-cultural skills. You can download the D.Miss. course schedule from the Program Overview page.

D.Min. students develop rapport and build friendships as they discuss theology and the challenges of ministry.
