Course Requirements

 

To earn 3 CEU’s student will complete the following requirements satisfactorily.

1.      80% Attendance required – student must attend a minimum of 24 hours of class

 

2.      READ EITHER Into Abba’s Arms, Sandra D. Wilson,

OR  Connecting, Larry Crabb

 

3.  WRITE a 500-750 word essay. Follow course policies in syllabus.

CHOOSE EITHER  A or B

A)    Into Abba’s Arms by Sandra Wilson

      Respond to these questions:

1)      Why do I have a hole in my soul?

2)      How can I get close to a God I can’t trust?

3)      What style mask do I most closely identify with and why—relater’s or achiever’s?

4)      How can I find and accept the real me?

Show you understand Wilson’s perspective, summarize your perspective and close with the impact of these discoveries.

 

      B) Connecting by Larry Crabb

Refer to Crabb’s chart on page 39. What is your understanding of what it means to “pour life

into another” and how could connecting be an effective means of healing?  Is there a time when

it is appropriate to focus on the “Stubborn will” and/or the “Psychological Damage?” If so,

when. If not, why not.  Show you understand Crabb’s perspective, summarize your

perspective and close with the impact of these discoveries.

 

4. OPTIONAL:  View The Horse Whisperer, available in video/DVD at most movie rental stores. Look for key elements that lead to the physical and emotional healing for a) Pilgrim and b) Grace.

 

Reading, assignments and record of attendance must be completed by stated due date.  Under normal circumstances, late work will not be accepted.  For exception, the student should contact the instructor BEFORE the assignment is due and submit in writing reason for the delay.

 

Inform faculty first day of class of your intention to take class as part of the Advanced Studies Certificate in Pastoral Care to Women Program.
