New Elective Will Explore Asian American Ministry Formation

Jan. 19, 2024

Western Seminary is offering a new elective this summer designed to equip ministry leaders serving in Asian American contexts.

“This course will explore the role of the Asian American experience in ministry formation, the different practical ministry models that reach Asian Americans, and the impact of the Asian American experience on theology and biblical interpretation,” said Daniel K. Eng, DMin, PhD, assistant professor of New Testament language and literature.

“ML570: Asian American Ministry Formation” will be offered as an all-day intensive at Western’s San Jose site on July 13, with additional web conference sessions on June 8 and Aug. 3. Web conference options will be available on all days for those who aren’t able to attend in person.

The new elective is open to all current Western students, as well as auditors and visiting students. Request info to connect with an admissions counselor.

In addition to his role at Western, Eng serves as a board member of The SOLA Network and is the author of several books, including the James commentary in the forthcoming New Testament in Color, and a new reader’s edition of the Greek New Testament, The Greek New Testament, Guided Annotating Edition.
