Summer 2013 Elective

ray-lubeckThanks to your survey feedback, this summer Western will offer "Exposition of the Psalms" - BLS 527H - with Dr. Ray Lubeck as our B/TS elective. Dr. Lubeck is Professor of Bible and Theology at Multnomah University and a long-time and well-respected adjunct professor at Western Seminary. Dr. Lubeck has written Read the Bible for a Change and Swallowing Jonah: Strategies for Reading Biblical Narratives, edited Ed Goodrick’s Is My Bible the Inspired Word of God?, and contributed book chapters, articles, papers, and reviews for a number of publications. He is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and the University of South Africa. "Exposition of the Psalms" is scheduled for the Portland campus, June 5 - 7, 2013.

 

Steve Korch to Teach in Spring and Summer Intensives

korchDr. Steve Korch, Director of Pastoral Training at the San Jose campus of Western Seminary, will be teaching PTS 510SH "Preparing and Preaching Expository Sermons" in San Jose in the spring 2013 semester, and SFS 502H "Practicing Prayer and Other Key Spiritual Disciplines" in the summer 2013 semester. Access to Western’s book, microform, periodical, CD and e-book holdings. The Online Private Academic Library Link merges the holdings of five Christian libraries in the Willamette Valley into one database.

WorldCat lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world.” Since Western has not subscribed to this database, our holdings will not be visible, so you need to check the OPALL OPAC first.

EBSCOHOST

EBSCOHOST gives you access to scholarly, peer-reviewed literature in several psychological and religious databases. You may find full text online for many items. GALE CENGAGE

Alexander Street Counseling

For our counseling students, Western Seminary is subscribing to Counseling and Therapy in Video, Volume I (350 recordings), which “provides the largest and richest online collection of video available for the study of counseling, social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling. The wealth of video and multiplicity of perspectives in these collections allow students and scholars to see, experience, and study counseling in ways never before possible.” On the library computers, click the “A” icon to access.
