The M.Div-PCW
program is designed for those women engaged
in or preparing for vocational ministry. It
is designed to assist the local church in
the training and nurturing of godly leaders.
It is guided by 5 essential educational values:
Outcome-based instruction.
Spiritual and character formation.
Mentor relationships.
Church relatedness.
Global and cultural awareness.
This educational
experience is intended to produce growth in
knowledge, character, and skills for ministry.
Many of these outcomes are best measured in
the field, rather than the classroom. Consequently,
the classroom and the church partner together
to prepare the student for a life of fruitful
ministry.
The M.Div. program
provides study of biblical languages in two
options: (1) the exegetical language track
and (2) the functional language track, for
students who choose not to develop the skill
to read and translate the Bible in the original
languages. Students will learn the essential
grammar and syntax of the biblical languages.
Students will be able to use original language
commentaries with discernment and do many
steps of the exegetical process as they prepare
sermons and lessons in ministry. (See Academic
Catalogue for more information)
The M.Div.-PCW
program will develop women leaders to effectively
lead, teach, and minister to the needs of
women in the local church, parachurch, or
compassion ministries. These individuals will
be well equipped to train other leaders, shepherd
women, and teach the Bible with accuracy and
greater understanding. (90 hrs)

Former
M.Div-PCW graduate:
As an
M.Div. graduate with a focus on women, I can
not speak more highly of Western's program.
I enjoyed the excellence of learning about
women at all seasons and stages of life, and
feel so much better equipped in practical
ministry skills of speaking, counseling women
in pain, administrative oversight and leadership
development of women. In addition, I was personally
challenged in areas of ethics, integrity,
and my personal walk with Christ. Having started
in the M.A. program and transferring my credits
to the M.Div., I am particularly grateful
for the addition of language tools that have
deepened my own understanding of Scripture
for teaching and training others from the
Word of God. I applaud the well-integrated
program Western offers to women who genuinely
want to invest their lives in ministry to
other women for the glory of God. (Phyllis
Bennett, D.Min.,
M.Div.-PCW)
The M.Div.
program may be done partially through distance
education. 30 hrs must be done on-campus to
meet accreditation standards. Please see Academic
Catalogue for more information.
