Tuition and Refund Schedule

Tuition and Refund Schedule

Tuition for credit students is due in full on the first Friday of the term unless you make regular, monthly payments through Western Seminary’s payment plan (available through S.I.S.). Audit & Enrichment students cannot participate in the payment plan as their tuition and fee charges are due at registration.

Tuition Deadlines

Tuition for credit students is due in full on the first Friday of the term begins, regardless of when your class meets. This includes Online C Session and Doctoral courses. Audit tuition is due at the time of registration.

Payment Methods

Tuition for credit students is due in full the first week of each semester. All payments should be submitted online using our Student Information System (S.I.S.). Making payments online is easy, convenient, secure, and saves time. You can pay by credit card or from your checking account. Students mailing checks can send them to Western Seminary, Attn: Cashier, 5511 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215.

Audit/Enrichment participants are expected to pay for classes upon registration.

If you are an international student, please see our International Student Payments page.

Payment Plan (Monthly Payments)

Recognizing that some students are not able to pay the full amount when tuition is due, Western Seminary offers a monthly payment option available through S.I.S. There is a per semester enrollment fee for this plan. Audit and enrichment participants need to pay tuition in full at the time of registration and are not eligible for a payment plan.

Monthly payment plans start on the month prior to the semester start date and break your tuition up into 4 equal payments. Contracts are offered as follows:

Fall Semester 4 payments; Contract begins August 1; Payment months are August through November
Spring Semester 4 payments; Contract begins December 1; Payment months are December through March
Summer Semester 4 payments; Contract begins April 1; Payment months are April through July

Make your payment directly through S.I.S. no later than the first of each month to avoid late fees. Should you make a late payment, you will be subject to a late fee.

If you sign up late for the payment plan, you will need to make two payments when you register. For example, if you sign up for the fall semester on September 1, you will need to catch up and pay both the August and the September payment, in addition to the enrollment fee.

Delinquent Accounts

If payment is not received by the due date, your account is considered delinquent. A monthly late fee will be charged on all balances at the end of each month. In addition, your registration may also be canceled for non-payment.

Cancellation of Registration for Non-Payment

If a student is delinquent on their account, Western reserves the right to cancel registration for non-payment.  Western Seminary does not have individual payment plans for students who are currently enrolled.

A student may not register for classes, secure grade reports or transcripts, or attend classes in any subsequent semester if he/she has not completed payment for courses already taken. If a student’s registration is canceled, the student may not re-enroll until his/her account is cleared and the appropriate payment has been made for new enrollment. Notification of Cancellation will be sent via email. Students with questions can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Failure to pay past-due accounts results in the account being turned over to a debt-collection firm. The institution reserves the right to add to the debt any collection and court costs subsequently associated with the collection of the debt. See Collection Process for past-due accounts.

Refund Schedule for Dropped Courses

All course refund schedules are shown in S.I.S. Please go to the Registration tab in S.I.S. and click on "Details" to view the drop deadlines and refund schedule for each class.

In general, the add/drop period ends after the first two weeks of the semester and tuition refunds begin at 100% at the end of week 1 and decrease by 10% each week. No refund is granted lower than 50%. Courses that are shorter than the full semester follow a calendar that is proportionate to the semester timeline.
