Portland Graduation: The Meeting
The Graduation Meeting happens in the fall at the start of term. During the graduation meeting, we will cover a variety of topics including regalia, the application to graduate, and graduation requirements. All of the items that we will discuss are covered within this website.
If you miss the meeting, please take the time to read the following information, as well as each of the "Everything You Need to Know About..." pages and the information on the main graduation page.
Once you turn it in, the Registrar's Office will add your name to the list of graduates and include you on all graduation-related emails, order your regalia and your diploma, and charge the graduation fee. Then, a preliminary graduation audit to ensure that you've completed (or will complete) all of the requirements for your program. The preliminary audit is sent to the registrar, Dr. Reid Kisling, who will do the official audit. Once the official audit is complete you'll receive a copy of the audit via email from the Registrar's Office. The Faculty and Board of Directors will approve all graduate names before issuing a diploma.
The graduation fee is charged to your student account as a fall charge if you are graduating in the fall, and as a spring charge if you are graduating in the spring or summer. You should pay your graduation fee at the time it's charged to your student account, and no later than April 1. The fee is applied towards the costs of your diploma, the graduation audit, the banquet tickets, and much more. However, the fee that we charge is much less than the actual costs for you to graduate. The majority of the costs are covered by Western Seminary. As a result, we ask even students who are graduating in absentia to pay the fee.
During the graduation meeting, we passed out the Graduation Meeting Memo. Please read this memo carefully and notify the Registrar's Office if you have any questions.
