Summer Elective Will Explore Asian American Ministry Formation

Feb. 10, 2026

Western Seminary is offering a special elective this summer designed to equip ministry leaders serving in Asian American contexts.

“This course will explore the role of the Asian American experience in ministry formation, the different practical ministry models that reach Asian Americans, and the impact of the Asian American experience on theology and biblical interpretation,” said Daniel K. Eng, DMin, PhD, associate professor of New Testament language and literature.

“ML570: Asian American Ministry Formation” will be offered as an all-day intensive at Western’s San Jose site on Saturday, July 11, with additional web conference sessions on May 9, June 20, and July 25. Web conference options will be available on all days for those who aren’t able to attend in person.

This elective is open to all current Western students, as well as auditors and visiting students. Auditors are encouraged to request info to connect with an admissions counselor.

In addition to his role at Western, Eng serves as a board member of The SOLA Network. He is the author or editor of several books, including James: The Hodder Bible Commentary, Faithful Ministry Through Chinese Churches in America, and The Greek New Testament, Guided Annotating Edition.
