New Counseling Professor Brings Extensive Clinical and Cross-cultural Experience

Western Seminary is excited to welcome Rachel Heffield, PhD, as the newest member of its counseling faculty. Heffield joins Western on the Portland campus as Assistant Professor of Counseling and brings a unique combination of clinical and cross-cultural experience to the position.

"Rachel has served in such a variety of roles that her wisdom and depth will bring a genuineness to her teaching and supervision," said Counseling Director Kay Bruce, PsyD. "On top of it all, she has a delightful personality and is trustworthy!”

Heffield received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Regent University. She served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles in East Asia for eight years, including co-founding the China Hope Center, a professional, faith-integrated counseling center in Beijing, China. Most recently, Heffield taught as adjunct professor at The Baptist College of Florida while serving as the VP of member development at Pioneers USA.
