Armstrong Hall Pillar Restoration

Armstrong Hall Pillar Restoration

Renovations began on the pillars of Armstrong Hall in the spring of 2015. Over 100 years old, the columns at the front of the house had been steadily deteriorating and had become a safety concern. To strengthen the pillars, the inner posts were bolted to the concrete base and then surrounded by a poured concrete mould. The process took several months and was lengthened even further by nesting owls which had made their home in the capital of one of the pillars. Once the owls vacated their nest, new capitals and a new coat of paint finished the project!
