MFM 501-504 FAQ
Why 4 of the "same class"?
A better question is: What are the Outcomes? Mentored Field Ministry is about you and the ministry God has called you. It is a very personal, individualized course. And it need not look like teh same course four times. You will get out of the course what you put into it.
We encourage you to come into the course with certain expectations on which you will focus. Professional skills, personal character, vocational fit and gleaning from a mentor are the four key areas in which you willwant clear goals. Some questions to ask yourself include the following:
Professional skills:
Is there a particular aspect of ministry in which I need to develop the know-how to be effective in the future (budgeting, preaching, leading Bible studie, leading meetings, facilitating training, balancing the different aspect of ministry from preaching to hospital visits to family)?
Is there an area in which I know I have a weakness (think of evaluations you've had, areas of insecurity, reasons why people are/have been hesitant, areas where you sense the Spirit leading you to grow)?
Is there something my mentor would like me to develop that they see as an area of growth?
Is there something I know I'm successful in, but want to learn how to enhance?
Personal Character:
Where am I struggling?
What does my spouse say I need to hone in on to become a better spouse/parent/minister?
What would I ask for if I was given the question Solomon was given (other than wisdom)?
In what ways could I be more loving?
Vocational Aspiration:
In which ministry (volunteer, bi-vocational or full-time) do I want to be involved in five years from now?
What ministry vocation am I intrigued by and would ike insight if it is a good fit or not?
What gives me satisfaction or unsatisfaction in my current ministry role?
How can I check myself whether a ministry vocation is in God's best interest for me and others?
Gleaning from my Mentor:
What about your mentor do you want to learn how to do like they do?
What about your mentor do you want to learn how to do unlike they do?
What development in ____ area to you want your mentor to resource you?
Do you give me a mentor?
What do I need to give you for a grade?
How many times must my mentors and I meet?
Must I use the same mentor for 501-504?
What's in it for my mentor?
What forms do I need to turn in?
