Paying Your Tuition

Your payment record at Western Seminary is as important as your academic record.

Key Principles:

  • Tuition is due in full the first Friday of the semester, regardless of the timing of related classroom sessions. (This includes online session C and Doctoral courses.). Typically, the semester begins the first week of January, May and September.
  • Tuition for Audit classes is due at the time of registration.
  • Waiting on financial aid or a third party payment to clear your account balance is not an acceptable reason for not paying your account in full (Option 1) or for not signing up for the payment plan (Option 2) before the beginning of the semester.
  • If during the semester a student’s account shows a positive balance (e.g. due to a scholarship payment), students may request a refund.
  • Payment plans can be adjusted, at no extra cost, if a student adds or drops classes once the original plan has begun.

Option 1: Pay Tuition in Full at the Beginning of the Semester

Tuition is due in full the Friday before the semester begins, regardless of when your class meets. (This includes online session C and Doctoral courses.)  Audit tuition is due at time of registration.

  • Please check your class schedule for the official semester dates. The first day of classes may vary from campus to campus. Generally speaking, the semester begins the first week of January, May and September.
  • You may pay by eCheck or credit card on our website, using S.I.S. or mail a check to Western Seminary Attn: Cashier, 5511 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215.
  • If you are an international student, please see our International Student Payments page.

Option 2: Sign up for the Payment Plan

Sign up for the payment plan through your S.I.S. account. Students must sign up for the payment plan each semester. For more details on how payment plans work, please see our FAQ on the topic.

Waiting on financial aid or a third party payer?

  • It can take up to 8 weeks to receive financial aid, so prepare now for using either Option 1 or 2 in the event that your financial aid does not arrive prior to the start of the semester.
  • If you have not received your loan funds before the start of the semester, you will need to pay by credit/debit card or online check as noted in Option 1 above or sign up for Option 2: the institutional payment plan in S.I.S.
